Hello,

Stating the obvious here:

1. The documentation for creating a theme in v15 on the odoo site is wrong (things break from the start):

2. There is one closed "issue" in this repository that speaks somewhat about setting theme colors
3. Hardly anybody on the internet tells us something about creating themes in v15
4. I cannot find a tutorial, book or course about creating a theme in v15
5. What would be the best way to learn how to create a theme starting in Odoo v15?

Maybe learn v14 and hack our way into v15?
Download v15 themes from the app store and combine bits and pieces?

Or maybe, just maybe, hope there is a tutorial coming from Odoo themselves that explains how their system is supposed to be used?

Hello,

Long story short: we unfortunately do not have an up-to-date documentation about creating themes. Indeed, the tutorial you mention is very out-dated and wrong. We hope to update it soon but currently we are still making the system evolve very fast. For future versions (maybe as early as 16.0), we plan to review entirely how themes are defined which would really ease external designers work.

Version 14.0 and 15.0 are very similar in the way they work. Odoo 15.0 has just many more options. So yes, right now, unfortunately, the best way would be trying to figure out what one of our themes does and getting inspired on what to do. I gave some (very little) information a while ago here: #553 (comment)

I'll keep the issue open, I'll inform you as soon as there is an updated documentation.
