Outlook and WhatsApp don't capture dictation and just jump out

When using with some apps, dictation does not save and it seems to jump out the document. Any ideas on what I am doing wrong or need to change?

Hi! When you say the dictation "jumps out" of the document, do you mean it's not being inserted into the front app at all?

I just tested WhatsApp and it's working fine on my end. A few questions:

• Are you on the latest version (v2.0.2)?
• What specific action are you using for these apps?

Could you share your configuration or active action settings? Also, checking the logs would help troubleshoot — they're located at ~/Library/Logs/Macrowhisper/.

Note: To get useful information from the logs, you'll need to set "redactedLogs" to false in your configuration.

Right now I can't reproduce this on my end, so the more info you can provide, the better I can help track down the issue.

I am ALWAYS on the latest version. It now seems to be Ok for Outlook but not WhatsApp.

Here is an example of what happens in WhatsApp. Outlook was doing similar BUT seems to work right now:

Thanks for sharing the config and log files, I don't see any issues there, but watching your video, I can see something. The issue seems to be with the Escape key.

What it looks that's happening is Superwhisper is closing the recording window, then Macrowhisper tries to close it again, which sends the Escape event to WhatsApp and kicks you out of the conversation.

Can you check your Superwhisper settings? I'd check directly for two things:

• Paste result text — this should be off (both in your configuration/advanced settings and in your per-mode settings)
• Always Close — I usually recommend keeping this off (to have the result in the rec window if not in an input field), but if you prefer to have it on, you'll need to adjust Macrowhisper. Setting "simEsc": false in your config defaults will stop it from pressing Escape and letting Superwhisper close the rec window.

Glad we figured it out!

By the way. Looking at the logs, I also noticed you use Alter. Just as a side note, Alter is one of those apps that can generate a lot of unintended clipboard copies (it auto copies something every time you open the notch), so I personally have it in my ignore clipboard list like this: "clipboardIgnore": "Alter",

This only really matters if you ever start using the {{clipboardContext}} placeholder, since Alter can contaminate the clipboard history without it being obvious where that content came from.
