Describe the problem you're observing

The “Checksum failed” error in “LM Studio” for downloaded model files occurs in about 30% of the models being downloaded. This issue does not occur on Linux, even when using the same pool. It does happen on Linux as well, but perhaps in only 1% of cases.

The models are stored on my ZFS pool, as described in bug reports #449. The pool was upgraded since then and got a cache.

Unfortunately, the problem also occurs in the versions 2.4.1rc13 and 2.4.1rc14.

Yeah, it seems to be a bit more of a problem with torrent-style downloads, seek ahead, fill in gaps behind in unknown order. Getting close to a fix

Hmm no, more complex than that - LM Studio seems to be using multiple threads to download, and something goes wrong with the offset - right data is written, but in the wrong order.

I think it's almost impossible, because too many people around the world use this program.

It could also be that LM Studio is unable to read a certain block for a certain period of time and, due to a timeout, reports that the checksum failed.

I started downloading the same models as before on the new version 2.4.1rc14f.exe. Now there are 10 of them downloading - most of them as a continuation of the previously downloaded parts.

In this version, the program has started freezing. First, the program froze for about 2–3 minutes when I deleted the model marked “checksum failed” from the “downloads” menu, and a moment later it froze again and has remained frozen ever since. The interface and the window are frozen, but the download continues in the background. I’m hoping it will unfreeze after a while.

The process has been frozen for at least 55 minutes, and I can't generate a memory dump for it in Task Manager.

I’ve noticed that the speed of downloading models and saving them to disk keeps dropping.
