We’re proud to present Captain, our AI-powered assistant seamlessly integrated into Chatwoot. Captain is designed to enhance customer support efficiency with four key features:

We’ve also made significant updates to the Chatwoot interface, including:

⚠️ Important Note for Upgrading:

This release is a pre-release and is not recommended for production use. It is intended for testing and evaluation purposes only. Please wait for the stable releases if you intend to update production.

The v4.0.0 release requires the pgvector extension to be installed in the database. Please refer to the Chatwoot v4 migration guide for more details on how to prepare your database for this release.

Umm was it intended to push the latest docker tag with this pre-release, if it's not fully released yet? My instance updated to 4.0.0 and Chatwoot doesn't fetch emails via IMAP anymore.

How can I downgrade?

Great job, but make the layout more responsive, use on mobile is very important and your mobile app still lacks a lot to be usable. A PWA would already help a lot.

• The desktop version is designed with just larger screens in mind.
• We are working on the v4 mobile app to be in parity with the desktop app at the moment.

I was testing the new v4 on Kube, but I couldn't find where to add the OpenAI API key and the model to use; it would be nice if we could also use a custom model that we had fine-tuned.

• We will be adding support for custom models in upcoming releases.
• If you are in the ee edition of Chatwoot and under a paid plan, you will be able to configure captain from the super admin.

It's awesome to see such cool updates in this new release. A few questions: As @casualmatt mentioned, it would be great to be able to plug in our own models (e.g., via OpenRouter), as our use case handles sensitive medical data, and we would need to use an on-prem open-source model.
Also, is the sidebar now collapsible? this made it impossible to use on mobile, as the sidebar took up almost all the screen space and made the chat section inaccessible.

@davbrau I think that the API key can be set using the envar: CAPTAIN_OPEN_AI_API_KEY, but even if I have set it up is not working.

• We will be adding support for choosing your own models in the upcoming releases.
• The redesigned sidebar is not collapsible. We direct users to use the mobile apps as the desktop app is not developed for smaller screens.
