Source code gone when I restarted extension and reconnected

I have 7 RPG and CL source files open. I noticed the COBOL extension was needing a restart so I did that and disabled it...because i rarely use it. Got a prompt to reconnect to the IBM i. Once i did that the source code for all 7 source files was gone. They all have this same message, as if they are all new empty source files. see attached.
What happened here?
What is it expecting me to do at this point.....Close all the open tabs and reopen all the source files....and hope it saved all my changes?

Is the source in Source PF, IFS, or local computer? Can you open it outside of VSCode?

So everytime i close the VSCODE with tabs open it will open itself back up with this message on some of the tabs. Not sure yet why it is only some of the tabs. They are all from the same connection. Some of the tabs are reopening just fine with the source code displayed.
