Core devices just announced a ring with a button and a mic.

I'm a bit intrigued but don't know if I would use it. Does anyone else get some idea of use cases coupling it to e.g. Bangle.js?

It's an interesting idea! I love the idea of putting a mic on a smart ring. Such a shame about the recharging though.

Is a paid subscription required? No.

How long does the battery last? 12 to 15 hours of recording ... that’s up to 2 years of usage.

... or one day of the button being accidentally held down in your bag.

Paying $75 every 2 years sounds a bit like a subscription to me, with the added bonus of e-waste.

It feels like even a small capacitor and some energy harvesting using NFC could be enough. The amount of times you hold your phone in your ring hand it could probably suck up enougn power to get it going.
