In the current client design, the end user must use the command line to initiate logging then send the log to our support team. This is problematic for some end users.

I suggest a new feature to allow the server to tell the OC client to log its activity and upload it to the server for review periodically. Admin level users could enable or disable this option in the server UI. An expiration date/time would provide the support staff a "set and forget" option.

To overcome the case where client is not connecting or communicating, a client side option to enable logging with a "send email" option would be a useful compliment.

That sounds like a much better support experience for a user. Great idea. +1 from me.

With 1.6.0, there's a default log of all transactions to a hidden file called .owncloudsync.log. It does not yet get uploaded though.

Where and how do you think this should end up on the server?

Directly in the data/username directory of that person maybe?
