My name is Alay Sharma, and I am a very driven student at Galgotias University (2022–2026) pursuing a B.Tech in computer science. I have a solid background in software development, cybersecurity, and open-source contributions. My background includes front-end web development at Security BSides Jaipur and Odisha, leadership at Null Community as a Student Chapter Lead, and organising cybersecurity projects at Galgotias University's Cybercell. I have successfully developed projects like the official website of the Cybercell Club and a social media parsing site for the NIA using my expertise in Python, C++, C, SQL, React, NodeJS, and security tools like Hashcat, Wireshark, Nmap, and Metasploit. My dedication to lifelong learning is demonstrated by my certifications in Google Cybersecurity, AI Essentials, and virtual experience programs with Mastercard, Goldman Sachs, and J.P. Morgan.
I'm excited to add my expertise to worthwhile projects and advance in the developer community because I'm passionate about open-source development and cybersecurity.

Hi @cvvergara ,

I’ve completed the draft of my GSoC proposal and would really appreciate your feedback before I proceed with the final submission. I’ve also completed the prerequisite tasks, including submitting a merge request, and would be grateful if you could review it and share any suggestions or improvements.

Thank you for your time and guidance!

Best regards,
Alay Sharma

Hey team, as I wait for feedback on the proposal, I’ve started working on mock graphs to test Johnson’s algorithm on edge cases (like disconnected graphs and negative weight edges). Would love to know if there's a preferred format or benchmark dataset the team uses?

Quick clarification!

I noticed a small typo in my submitted proposal — under the "GitHub" field, I accidentally wrote alay-sh instead of my actual GitHub handle, which is mrvenom17.

The public repo link (https://github.com/mrvenom17) in the same section is correct, and all my proposal code/work is there.

Just wanted to clear that up in case of any confusion. Thanks and sorry for the oversight!

PS:

Quick correction & update
While reviewing the official GSoC timeline, I noticed a mismatch with my proposal dates (e.g., bonding and coding period). I've now adjusted my internal timeline to align with the published GSoC 2025 schedule.

Thanks for the opportunity to clarify! I’m using this time to deepen my understanding of pgRouting and prep for the bonding period.

Hi @cvvergara,

Just one week left until April 29, and I wanted to share a quick final update and express my gratitude again for the opportunity to contribute to pgRouting.

Since submitting my proposal, I’ve continued preparing for the project by building a dedicated repository (pgr_johnson-dev) where I’m prototyping edge handling and graph structure modules. It’s public here: https://github.com/mrvenom17/pgr_johnson-dev

Along with that, I’ve structured my devlog and timeline tracker to ensure I’m aligned with pgRouting conventions and can execute quickly if selected.

If there’s anything I’ve missed or you’d like adjusted in the proposal or plan, I’d be very happy to hear your thoughts.

Thanks again for the opportunity — looking forward to learning more and contributing to pgRouting in a meaningful way.

Warm regards,
Alay Sharma
