Consider Taking Control of Debian Package

In Debian's listing mod_authnz_external has been orphaned. Since this project has taken over the original, it would be appropriate for it to take control of the Debian package as well.

The change in ownership has been reported.

Note also that this project has released v3.3.3, superseding the Debian distributed v3.3.2.

In the interim, a mentors package has been uploaded by myself.

As far as I am aware, none of the maintainers/contributors of this project (past or present) have ever been directly involved in packaging for any specific distribution. (Hai Zaar is on the contributors list for providing a bug report.) Personally I feel that would be out of scope for what we are doing here. Especially since we really only have one active maintainer (me) and I haven't used Debian-based distributions in years, so will be unlikely to be able to give it the time and attention that a typical Debian maintainer might.

If you are active in the Debian project, you might consider taking over the packaging yourself as a separate packaging repository.

We would be happy to work with you in fixing bugs and ensuring cross-platform compatibility, for example, but I don't think it would be appropriate for us to include it in our repository here.

An additional reminder for anyone looking to package mod_authnz_external:

Due to historical reasons, this repository is also the home of mod_authz_unixgroup, which is a separate library/project/package. The correct way to package this project is to get the latest git tag with the format mod_authnz_external-M.m.r (major, minor, revision). Or mod_authz_unixgroup-M.m.r if packaging that library.
Or you can use github directly as the Fedora/RedHat package does: https:// github.com/phokz/mod-auth-external/archive/%{name}-%{version}.tar.gz (e.g. https://github.com/phokz/mod-auth-external/archive/mod_authnz_external-3.3.3.tar.gz or https://github.com/phokz/mod-auth-external/archive/mod_authz_unixgroup-3.3.3.tar.gz)

If there are no grievances I am willing to move the packaging for Debian into my own repository. I am not yet active in the Debian project (this has been my introduction) but I shall shift my stance to intermittently provide release packages there.

I would still appreciate a review of #62 to ensure that significant fields are correct (such as maintainer and copyright) before closing without merging.

When I have more time to learn Apache HTTPd's API I may come back to help maintain 😄 I appreciate your (@bimimicah) patience with me as I spent the time figuring out this module and how to integrate it with my system.
