ReadFrom reads data from r until EOF or error. The return value n is the number of bytes read. Any error except EOF encountered during the read is also returned.

We're encountering the same issue with wal-g after upgrading to v4.1.26.

Error:

CompressAndEncrypt: compression failed: EOF

This appears to be a regression in v4.1.26 where the optimization to skip zero-byte writes breaks the io.ReaderFrom contract and prevents proper stream finalization. The if rn > 0 guard added to Writer.ReadFrom in v4.1.26 skips the write call when io.ReadFull returns 0 bytes with io.EOF or io.ErrUnexpectedEOF. This prevents proper finalization of the lz4 compression frame, leaving it incomplete.

Downgrading to v4.1.25 fixed the issue.
