Request - Add Histogram

It would be nice to add a luminosity Histogram, much like in camera, to help set with/black point and exposure etc.

Not urgent, but a nice one to help set balance

Yeah, I thought you might say that. I was thinking for updates, so if you change the brightness slider, or use a tone mapping setting for example, you see the resultant change in the screen space brightness levels. Or maybe clipping highlights would be an equivalent option?

Yes ideally the histogram plotted transformed data, not just source data. That way it would reflect the edits as they happen.

But anyway, that still might not be as useful as on-screen histogram for tweaking the current view.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. It's not a priority request, just a nice addition potentially if there is time one day!

For this to be useful while grading/tweaking a splat, I would make the first version explicitly a current-view/post-transform histogram rather than a source-data histogram.

A small implementation surface could be:

• compute from a downsampled rendered luminance buffer after exposure/tone mapping/view settings;
• show clipping percentages for near-black and near-white, e.g. <1% and >99% or configurable thresholds;
• expose p1 / median / p99 luminance markers so the user can see balance changes without reading the whole plot;
• optionally support a selection/region mode later, but keep the first version viewport-wide;
• update after view/render-setting changes, not necessarily on every camera orbit if readback cost is a concern.

That keeps it aligned with the request here: “what did my current edit do to the visible brightness distribution?” rather than “what values are stored in the source splats?”
