In any project with documentation with MyST markup, we use the .vscode/ settings directory to prevent it from rewriting files automatically. I'd like to remove this from the .gitignore configuration, which allows maintainers to optionally ignore it. Alternatively, an option in [gitignore] for remove_lines would be just as effective.
I can do a PR for the former suggestion. I don't use this often enough to justify the remove_lines option.
