Please warn people that conversion of gifs is UNIDIRECTIONAL, and will lead to data loss!!!
Do NOT delete your source gifs after conversion!

You can use 2jpeg to convert the excel to a Jpeg, then imagemagick to convert that back to a gif. There may be minor case of serious fidelity degradation.
