As I wrote there:

It could leverage native support when available, but I'm not sure that actually make sense considering access to local files, running scripts etc. If we do go that route (under some conditions, like there being no scripts), note that it's also how we're planning to support deferred loading of tools and programmatic tool calling: #3666 (comment), by essentially falling back from the "builtin tool" to a Pydantic AI side implementation if the builtin tool is not supported by a given model: #3212
