Governor Baby Rani Maurya chaired the meeting of vice-chancellors (VC) of state universities through video conferencing from Rajbhawan here on Thursday,in which the VCs maintained that the examinations and academic sessions would be delayed this year as many colleges have turned into quarantine centers and all the medical colleges are operating as Covid-19 dedicated facilities.<br>
During the video coference, VC of Pantnagar University Tej Pratap informed the governor that a large part of the university campus and hostel have been made into quarantine center.

Engineering colleges are facing a tough admission season due to Covid-19 crisis. Fearing dip in admissions,many colleges across the state have put their members on on canvassing duty to woo students.<br>
Many colleges hacve been asked their faculty members to call up potential students while some colleges have been assigned them on door-to-door canvassing during the pandemic. Some colleges in Chennai, Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur districs asked the faculti members to come to colleges from the second week of May to make telephone calls to Class XII students.

Officials in the Admission Committee for Professional courses said that this year on;y 26,287 students in Class XII Science have got 40% and above marks.

The All India Council for Technical Education has reduced intake by 50% for courses with poor admission in the five years in engineering colleges and polytchnics in Tamil Nadu. Seats for courses with less than 30% admissions have been reduced in 122 engineering colleges and 155 polytechnics, data from a RTI reply shows. <br>
While the sanctioned strength for a course is 60 seats, most courses now have only 30, in some colleges the number are as low as 12 and 15 seats.Suprisingly, intake has been cut for popular branches such as electronics and communications engineering, computer science and information technology.
