The following data may be collected by your operating system (Apple iOS):
- App performance metrics (if developer data sharing is enabled)
- Crash reports (if crash reporting is enabled)
Important
ShelfPlayer does not collect this data directly. These metrics and crash reports are handled by Apple and are subject to Apple’s Privacy Policy.
The app may store the following information that you provide or generate through usage:
- Audiobookshelf server URL and login credentials
- Downloaded content
- Cached content
- App preferences and settings
- Playback information (progress, bookmarks, etc.)
We use the information described above solely to:
- Connect to your Audiobookshelf server
- Provide access to and play content from your library
- Store your app preferences and playback progress
- Improve app performance and stability
- Enable offline playback by downloading items
- Cache images and items locally to enhance performance
- All data is stored locally on your device
- iCloud is used for backup only if enabled by you
- Connection data (e.g. server credentials) is securely stored in the device’s keychain
- We do not operate any servers; all data is transmitted directly between your device and the server you provide
ShelfPlayer integrates with the following services:
- Your personal Audiobookshelf server
- Apple services such as App Store Connect (for crash reporting and performance metrics) via the operating system
- iOS system features including Siri, the Journal app, Shortcuts, and iCloud sync
Important
Data collected by Apple through these services (e.g., crash reports, performance metrics) is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy, not by ShelfPlayer.
You can manage your data and privacy in the following ways:
- Delete all local app data
- Disable metrics (inside iOS settings)
- Disable crash reporting (inside iOS settings)
- Remove downloaded content
- Clear cached data
- Remove server connections
- Manage or disable iOS integrations via your device’s Settings app
We do not retain any personal data on external servers. All information is stored locally on your device and remains there until you choose to delete it. Backup and secure storage via iCloud and the device keychain may be relevant to your data’s safety and privacy.
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):
- The right to access the personal data we hold about you
- The right to request correction or deletion of your data
- The right to object to or restrict processing of your data
- The right to data portability
Because ShelfPlayer stores all user data locally, we generally do not retain or process any personal data ourselves. If you have questions or wish to exercise your rights, please contact us using the information below.
If you are a California resident, you have certain rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), including:
- The right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it

- The right to non-discrimination for exercising your rights
ShelfPlayer does not sell personal data. All information remains on your device and is controlled by you. If you have questions or requests, please contact us using the information below.
ShelfPlayer does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, please contact us and we will promptly delete the data.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be communicated within the app. Continued use of ShelfPlayer after an update means you accept the revised policy.
