Linux build?

• I'm on the latest version of Nocturne.
• I'm sure that this feature cannot be replicated by a theme/JS script.

What Operating System are you using the browser on?

What would you like to suggest for Nocturne?

As per title. Marble had it but that became outdated (stuck on 128). I daily drive Linux and use echelon-140 (currently on librewolf) and I heard this browser works better with it.

Sorry for the late response (I forgot to set notifications for the repo whoops...)

I currently only compile for Windows as I main it primarily but might setup a linux environment for it if there is enough demand for it.
I do not know if r3dfox is able to be compiled on linux so I would have to fix that in case too.

Update for 26/04/2026:
after fighting with multiple Windows only checks and some dependencies not working right. I got a working build of Nocturne compiled on linux (on cachy/arch)

I actually managed to compile it myself. I had some minor errors during the build, but nothing major.

I tested it for a few hours. Everything seems fine, I copied over my profile with echelon-140 installed. The only broken thing I found is DRM, but it's not a big issue for me since I rarely watch DRM-ed things.

DRM doesn't work on Windows builds as well so that isn't an issue platform specific (Thank you Google).

I've had more plans for linux builds which might get implemented in the next releases (Restore removed GTK parts and other things)

I made a VM with cachy to test linux builds so I can test building there too. I pushed a fix for it and it seems to compile. Please confirm tho!! Thank you for testing and being patient!

It compiles now. The new scrollbars work only on built-in pages (preferences, about:support etc.). On other pages I get the ones that I had before.

From what I've seen the size can be resized by the Windows 10 scrollbar option

I'll experiment more and send updates here.

It seems that mozilla just split controls between web pages and the internal ones. On Windows it is a sandbox issue but here it seems to be something else. Sadly I have 0 idea...

While I don't believe this is an issue with sandboxing, my patch is not entirely based on the native scrollbars one for windows, which makes me believe that any property that modifies scrollbars in some way or another causes the scrollbar to become non-native once again (see: devtools). This is intentional because forcing it to avoid scrollbar properties seems to turn scrollbars invisible under GTK (commented it under my code). I tried working around this problem while working on that patch but I did not find a way to solve this.
