Some images not appearing

There is a similar issue already posted (#1) but mine seems a bit different. For me, the background image of the bar itself, and the reddit alien I believe is supposed to be in the top-left corner, both fail to load:

I have checked the chrome extension directory, and the CSS files are present. The images are present. The file permissions are all 600, except for two images:

shine-128.png
shine-48.png

These are 644. The files all belong to my user and my user's group.

I have disabled all extensions except for this toolbar, and reproduced the issue. Additionally, when I check the Developer Tools in Chrome, nothing seems to come up 404/missing.
