Proxy support when installing Eclipse components from external repositories using Eclipse p2 Director application

When installing from external repo with p2 director, there is no obvious way to say what proxy server to use. There is an issue in eclipse opened for that here swg21653193, that would eventually let to use Apache http client proxy settings. Luckily there is a workaround explained in these articles:
