Adding Organisation nodes

The requirement is enabling Research Graph partners to capture and present Organisations such as universities, funders, and research groups as part of their graph. The followings are candidate properties of the new type:

• *labels: organisation,grid
• *type=organisation
• *local_id
• *source
• *title
• url
• acronym
• grid
• isni
• doi
• wikipedia

Notes:

• The Oraginsation is closely related to Researchers. Hence, visually can be represented in a similar way.
• At this stage it seems to be there is no ORCID for organisations, however, there are DOIs for funders.

Local_id is a mandatory field
Each organisation node should have a unique ID for the organisation at the source level. Hence, one cannot create an Organisation node just by having a title. Examples of local_id:

• gird_id from GRID.AC
• put-code from ORCID

In apo.org.au we define an "owning institution" - so a parent-child relationship between organisations. Our implementation of this is sporadic. I note also that this approach is taken in GRID (grid:hasParent).

FOAF has class foaf:organization. Note also another w3c standard "The Organization Ontology", where org:organization is defined as an equivalent class to foaf:organization. Within this ontology, org:subOrganisationOf / org:hasSubOrganisation are used.

We also assign a high-level organisation type to our organisation records. Our org types is a short list and a bit overlapping with the GRID approach. Within The Organization Ontology, this is probably encoded as org:purpose.
