AutoExport does not catch changes to subcollections

If I have a collection with some subcollections, run a BBT export with "keep updated" on the top-level collection and then make changes to its subcollections, BBT does not recognize the top-level collection as having changed, and thus does not trigger the autoexport. Is this the intended behavior and can this be improved so changes to subcollections will trigger an autoexport?
