I just came here to make the same suggestion. I find that I mostly flip through pdfs using Zotero's internal reader, but when I want to make a comment, scribble a little derivation next to an equation or whatever, I need an external pdf reader with quality pen functions. Getting there would be a little bit quicker and more frictionless if there was a away to open the external reader while in the internal reader, without navigating back to the central pane. I guess an "open external viewer" keyboard shortcut could be another way, in addition to clicking on PDF viewer tab. |
Thank you very much for this useful plugin.
I have a small suggestion to improve a bit the plugin if possible.
Most of the times, I open the PDF file in the Zotero PDF Viewer first, before I decide that I would like to open it in the external PDF viewer. With the current plugin, I still need to right-click on the PDF tab header -> Show in Library -> right-click on the item in the central pane -> Open in External Viewer.
It would save a few clicks to get access to the Open in External Viewer directly from the PDF Viewer tab. Maybe just below "Show in Library" after right-click on the PDF tab header. If the PDF Viewer is opened in a separate window, it would be nice to add it also below "Show in Library", in the "File" menu.
At the moment, I use the plugin mostly to get access to the full screen view of the PDF files, as it is not possible yet in Zotero.
Thank you very much.
