Hi,

Some time ago I reported somewhere else a possible issue related to navigation with the Generic Trapezoid shape, more details can be found there [1]. I found this problem while working on a specific subdetector, but I do not know if it also affects other subdetectors.

I could not determine with full certainty whether the issue comes from the navigation of this shape itself or from something else. In the meantime, I learned that there was a potential bug in the safety distance calculation for this shape.

@agheata, @BrieucF, and @s6anloes may be able to comment further on this.

Reproducer

I found the issue while doing a material scan, I could not make a more simple reproducer.

Other people faced the same problem (with the same subdetector), key4hep/k4geo#496

Hi, I will have a look asap. Do you have a reproducer, or can you provide the root geometry file and point me to the utility in DD4Hep used to see the problem?

If you suspect a specific shape, isolate it: just make a setup with a box bounding it as world volume, then try to do a material scan/lego plot of material budget on that setup. If you pin the problem with that, it will be easier for me to debug.
