Not trying to teach you how to make software, just asking.

Shouldn't bar functionality come in two pieces:

  1. info gathering (no GUI utility) e.g. i3status
  2. presentation (the bar) e.g. dzen2, lemonbar

Wouldn't splitting bar into two independent components be more flexible, unix-way and desirable?
If not, why?
