If CP toolbar is to take up an entire monitor width, why only display a few characters at a time? Wasted space.
If it's to remain a separate toolbar, let users somehow select character they want to display, when toolbar is active.
Possibly better solution is make CP accessible from an addon bar icon.
Have entire character palette pop up when R click the icon, in a window.
And / or have OPTION from current toolbar or addon bar icon menu, to open the character palette - so it stays open, until closed by user. That way, they could click & add characters into current window, as needed w/o repeatedly reopening drop list from tool bar or reopening a window from addon bar, as they are typing, if CP is redesigned that way.
