Does the monorepo features from experimental version works with existing monorepo ?

As the title says, is the new monorepo feature in experimental version meant to be used only to create a monorepo or it would work if I use it inside an existing monorepo ?

it seems like it does not. pnpm dlx shadcn@canary init in an existing turborepo gives

✔ Preflight checks.
✖ Verifying framework.

We could not detect a supported framework at <my-project-dir>
Visit https://ui.shadcn.com/docs/installation/manual to manually configure your project.
Once configured, you can use the cli to add components.

It works in existing monorepos as well.

• skip the first step of the Getting started guide and follow along
• add the required components.json files to each workspace
• add the following line to your apps/web/tsconfig.json file:
