Using a supported version?

  • I have searched searched open and closed issues for duplicates.
  • I am using Signal-Desktop as provided by the Signal team, not a 3rd-party package.

Overall summary

Long text messages are treated as having an attachment when making preview after editing them on iOS

Using "copy text" also adds the corresponding emoji, which doesn't seem like intended behavior even if the message had an attachment

Steps to reproduce

  1. Send a long message
  2. Edit it on iOS

Expected result

  • Message preview does not have ⁨⁨📎⁩
  • "Copy text" does not prepend ⁨⁨📎⁩

Actual result

  • Message preview in chat list has ⁨⁨📎⁩
  • "Copy text" prepends ⁨⁨📎⁩

there's also a download button on such edited messages on desktop, which does nothing
