Cannot interact with application when window is maximized

• I have searched searched open and closed issues for duplicates.
• I am using Signal-Desktop as provided by the Signal team, not a 3rd-party package.

Overall summary

When Signal desktop window is maximized I often but not always cannot interact with the application at all. I cannot open conversations or menus or anything. Once the window is unmaximized everything works normal again.

if a conversation is opened before the window is maximized everything stays normal.

Steps to reproduce

1. open Signal desktop
2. maximize window
3. try to open a conversation

Expected result

clicking on a conversation in the sidebar opens it

nothing happens
