vtk file version 5.1

Hi. currently I have an issue of using vtk file version 5.1 which is not supported by SOFA, I supposed.

My problem started when I use vtk 9.2.2 class vtkUnstructuredGridWriter to exported the transformed data to a file. Although I set the file version to 2.0 but still it wrote in 5.1 format. For now, the mesh can be loaded in paraview.

So I wonder how I can tackle this issue using SOFA or there is any tools to convert vtk file version?

Hi,

I have a very similar problem, so I put my file here :
stiff_flop_indicesOK_flip05.zip

I generate my vtk file with an extrusion made in SOFA, and then I used paraview to convert it using this method :
VTK_Paraview

Here the scene and the mesh I used for extrusion :

Oh excuse me I was'nt clear, I don't proposed any solution.
I just have exactly the same problem as yours, so I put my files here to give more data to @hugtalbot to solve the problem.
I described my vtk generation just in case it may give them usefull information.

To make things clear:

• @longhathuc you have a problem importing vtk files generated using Paraview 5.1
• @pchaillo you have a problem exporting a vtk mesh from a SOFA simulation then, re-importing this file in another SOFA simulation

Hi Hugo, in facts, I could not loaded vtk 5.1 format in Sofa but able to view it in Paraview

Yes @hugtalbot it's exactly that. But I assume that if my extrusion is good, I have the exact same problem as @longhathuc !

I have found the solution. In vtk 9.2.2, I just need to set the vtk file version to 4.2. And then it can be loaded by SOFA.

thanks @longhathuc but this means the loader of SOFA should definitely be updated to handle >5.* versions

Hi there,
May I ask how did you set the vtk file to version 4.2 with vtk 9.2.2? It seems that vtk9.2.2 no longer support converting vtk files to versions before 5.2.
