Wpkg-client.exe don't start on a fresh install of Windows 24H2

Good morning,

No problem for installation but when trying to launch the application it fails.

Note on a 23H2 version migrated around 24H2, the program works without problem.

Haven't tested it on latest Versions of Windows 11.
Sadly i dont have time right now to work on this currently, when i wrote the Client when i was a student with a small part time job in an it department and its great that it worked this well for so long.

It should really be ported to python3 and latest version of wxpython but as i said i don't have time for this right now.

Thank you already for responding, I didn't think I had an answer. Indeed I have already tried to recompile the project in Python 3 (I am not a Python developer) but I had an error in the execution too.

In any case, bravo, for a student project on the side it still serves us in our French university.
I will try to invest in Python, at least I have the sources!

Yeah besides the usual syntax changes between python 2.7 and 3.X, the wxpython module has probably the biggest number of breaking changes. Well it has been 10 years ...

I actually wrote this in the small it department of an university myself. After deploying software updates through wpkg-gp i was looking for a way to deploy updates on systeems that are not 24/7 connected to the university network and need manual steps (vpn).
The Client isnt actually that advanced, basically only a GUI for WPKG-GP which is also written in python, so i could reuse a lot of code :)

I would love to help with migrating, especially cause i still work in the same department, but not general it anymore. They are still using wpkg-gp as well, so will probably contact me in the near future with the same issue :D

Short update on this, a colleague of mine, was faced with the same issue, had some spare time and ported the client over to python 3.13.
We are currently in the last steps of testing the build process as here were more changes than expected but when when we finished our last test i will publish a new release that should work with the latest windows 11 builds.
