Prototype your AI agents in minutes, from your terminal.
When I build AI agents, I spend more time on the frontend than on the agent itself.
The agent was never the slow part. The slow part was the Streamlit app, the Chainlit app or the React project I needed just to talk to it, and then keeping that second app running too.
So I built Gentui: a terminal interface for prototyping agents really quickly. Its open source and works with any AG-UI agent backend. Install it, point it at your agents endpoint, and you get a working chat, the models chain of thought and human approval, with no frontend code.

What it does:
◈ Streams the conversation and shows the models reasoning in a collapsible Thought for 3s block
◈ Pauses for your approval using AG-UI interrupts, so the model can never approve its own commands
◈ Turns tool calls into live widgets: tables, charts and a step-by-step plan
◈ Lets you restyle it with themes, hot-reloaded CSS and Python plugins
It comes with a sample agent that turns plain English into a shell command. You see the command first, then approve, edit or reject it. It only runs after you say yes.
I ve tested it with AWSs Strands Agents framework over AG-UI. Its still early (alpha), and I havent tried other frameworks yet.
Whats Next ?:
Working on agentcore runtime support via boto3.
Its MIT-licensed. A PyPI release is on the way, and Im working on bringing Generative UI to the terminal next.
