Like this plugin for irssi does: http://scripts.irssi.org/html/nickcolor.pl.html

It basically assigns and stores a color per nick. This color is then used on the name of the person for every time it shows in the UI. This allows for better readability in conversations with multiple people.

Would be useful to have a setting to turn this on/off as well

Just for reference, this is probably not related to #290.

Only if users can set color codes on /nick.
