modelling lane change in a traffic congestion #15

hey guys..
I'm trying to come up with a model to investigate how lane change affects traffic flow, specifically in a traffic congestion. I have studied traffic flow theory but the issue is converting all of that into a model that I can simulate and report on. I am a final year Electrical engineering student and as such i"m not a very good programmer...I have been looking up traffic flow simulations and I found most of them are done in python so I figured that's probably a good simulation environment.. honestly I am clueless...If anybody could help me...thanx
