Some feedbacks from the Chinese community

Thprac is widely used in the Chinese Touhou community. There are some interesting feedbacks in Bilibili (Chinese YouTube) and Baidu Tieba - Touhou sub-Tieba (Chinese Reddit), etc. I'm going to translate some interesting feedback in this discussion.

I'm still experimenting with how to format the translation. Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

Notes:

• thcrap is not dominant in Chinese users, Nyasama (喵玉) translation version is also very popular.
• The default time zone of the translations is UTC+8.
• Sadly, Bilibili doesn't support exporting URLs to a single comment (as far as I know), so there aren't direct links to the comments on Bilibili.
• Feel free to add more Chinese sources to this discussion.

If you're confused with the non-Latin characters...

Hanzi (or Kanji, 汉字, literally Chinese characters) are the only character system used by the modern Chinese language and one of the three character systems used by modern Japanese. The same Hanzi can have different ways of writing, using different Unicodes (时, 時 is the same Hanzi) and causing bugs (see #214). A one-to-one map from Hanzi to Latin character strings simply doesn't exist.

I'm going to keep some necessary Hanzi in the English-translated texts to improve accuracy. Hanzi in usernames and the original Japanese spell card names will be preserved when translated. You can often see the Latinized version of these Hanzi in italics beside them. (Please let me know if I forget!)

Why does my MoF practice mode fail to alternate warping (I mean select the game progress before starting)? After choosing the phase, I experienced either the game freezing or entering the opening of the stage (with the backgrounds changed though. For example, when I selected the Boss of stage 4, the background was changed to the boss fight, but the enemies are from the beginning part of the stage).

Help! After starting thprac, I can't start the vanilla game. Instead, the game is kept in the Syōjyo-kitō-cyū (少女祈祷中) page¹. When I started the Nyasama (喵玉)² version of the game, I got a message "An error occurred while starting the game." whether I am using the Japanese version or the Chinese version. The in-game UI can be brought up though.
When starting the Steam version of UDoALG and AoCF, I could start the games up normally. However, the in-game UI couldn't be brought up. Are there any solutions? Thanks!

May I ask if you had changed the name of the game directory, causing the everlasting "Syōjyo-kitō-cyū (少女祈祷中)"¹?
If so, please try changing the directory name back. As an alternative, you can try scanning the game one more time, removing the old directory from thprac, and then starting the game with the new directory.
If not so, I have no idea too.
By the way, UDoALG has released a new version, but thprac haven't made a new version compatible with it. This might cause the bug. I've no idea about AoCF.

By the way, when switching screens and going back (while I’m streaming), in LoLK, the text in thprac turns into white squares. This bug... Should I report it on GitHub?

Sometimes when starting games with thprac, some third-party patches fail. I had to start the game and apply thprac later on. (No need to worry about it when playing the games normally, though)
On my computer, when I use thprac 2.2.0.0+ to open th16+, the game breaks. When I use thprac 2.0.8.3- to open th08-, I experience random lag. That's why it's necessary to have both versions of thprac.

Sometimes when starting games with thprac, some third-party patches fail. I had to start the game and apply thprac later on. (No need to worry about it when playing the games normally, though)

Someone else mentioned a similar issue at some point. The most likely cause is due to how many medium sizes objects thprac allocates. This uses a lot of address space if there is a lot of memory available, which causes other things to run of address space for their allocations, therefore, malloc fails. But because not that much actual memory is used, if thprac is initialized last, all the mid sized objects get allocated to be closer together, thus fitting inside the limited address space.

Part of what I want to do with all the rewrites I have planned is to use as few memory allocations as possible. I already got started on this to some extent, (6ea023c), but there is some code that leads to horrible amounts of allocations, where the entire system behind it will need to be rewritten + everything that uses it will need to go through some changes.
