how to include a community list into uBlock's Listings

Good evening all,

i am currently hosting https://ossmalta.eu/blacklists - repos on my github account and would like to know if they can be added to ublock's list for selection like one would find for easy, adguard etc...

these lists are made and curated around the maltese islands (republic of malta) they are community lists, we are curating the lists manually for the user base

let me know if this is not the right place to ask about getting the community lists added to project.

The list is blocking many URL shortener services. I know phishing attempts can utilize URL shorteners but it doesn't mean that we should block all of them. That would just cause issues for others that use them not for phishing.

We also don't accept new filter lists: https://github.com/uBlockOrigin/uBlock-issues?tab=readme-ov-file#filter-list-requests , especially if the list has too few users and not enough feedbacks.

The report procedure is coded within uBO itself. Any additions would need extra maintaining and code debts at the end. It's not just we add what users suggest and leave it there. When we add something, we have to support, maintain and guide the users about it. A 'Third-Party Directory' page is just putting another layer of work to other volunteers here.

As I said, other volunteers might consider the list if there are no overblocking there.

Not only shortners, but ||web.app^ breaks just too many legit sites.

$reason with a custom message could be potentially used to warn users that the end url might be malicious and they should only proceed if they trust the source.

Would most likely still annoy people, but it'd be better than outright assuming all end urls are malicious.

That's more of a suggestion to the OP rather than to us to implement on our side (since it'd likely still cause some additional reports).

the lists are used by many platforms, and we we are still working on improving them, so will take this into note.

as for url shorteners and platforms like wep_app, we get alot of reports on them from multiple-sources which made us include them as many telco, public organisations and companies also warned about the influx scam texts, emails etc using them,

This means that when there is an over-whelming influx as such is a campaign going on targeting the maltese islands, then they may be added back and if we have officall contacts to the platform we usally notify them about the links being used prior to blocking, if no offical contact is found they are added till they send us a request to remove them from the list, after all even steam was recently used by botnets CNC.. so not all systems are perfect, we continue to learn from this as time goes on.

an alternative i am contemplating is making a URL shortener / Web applications hosting list, this way those that want to specifically block them may, without them being in the main lists if that helps, placing the choice on the end user.

I understand that ublock may not accept the lists as-is at this time, which is fine, i simply asked for feedback which in turn as lead me to a few good points to work on, and i grateful for that, as we aim to make the web safer for all that utilise the lists.

Just FYI that there are continuous phishing attempts over years via URL shorteners in SMS in the US and other countries as well. There's no reasons for us to block URL shorteners in some regional lists but not in other countries. But we can't block them globally either, or there would be continuous reports of "false positive" links to us.
