Filtering mode setting is not saved after browser restart

• The issue is not present after disabling uBO Lite in the browser.

I tried to reproduce the issue when...

• uBO Lite is the only extension.
• using a new, unmodified browser profile.

Description

Filtering mode is set to Basic by default. After the setting is being changed either in the extension settings or in toolbar icon menu and the browser is restarted, the setting gets reverted to Basic.

A specific URL where the issue occurs.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Change Filtering mode setting to Optimal (either in the extension settings or in toolbar icon menu).
2. Restart browser.
3. Check Filtering mode - it's reverted to Basic.

Expected behavior

Filtering mode maintains its value.

Actual behavior

Filtering mode reverted to Basic.

Please note that before browser was restarted it showed filtering: default: optimal, but after restart changed to filtering: default: basic

If you want a web site to be in optimal mode, you need to tell Safari to allow uBOL on that site. If you want default mode to be optimal, you need to tell Safari to allow uBOL on all web sites.

But uBOL is allowed on that particular website, toolbar icon is red. Is there anything else I have to do in order to fix that permission?

I've enabled Developer menu in the settings and there I can see the following behaviour.
After I set filtering mode to optimal on Youtube it shows:

no filtering:
basic:
  - all-urls
optimal:
  - www.youtube.com
complete:

After browser is restarted it becomes:

no filtering:
basic:
  - all-urls
optimal:
complete:

This happens only if you do not set the site always allow on this website in Safari settings.

It works fine on my side, I cannot reproduce your issue.

And as I mentioned in the original message, the filter setting is not being saved even it is changed "system wide" in the uBOL settings, not only for some particular site.

When I deny everywhere, then click on uBOL's toolbar icon, the browser asks me whether I want to allow uBOL on the site. I click "Always Allow on This Website", at which point the page reloads with uBOL in optimal mode. Quitting and re-launching the browser, the permission is still there, and the site is still in optimal mode in uBOL.

The only difference I see with the information you provided so far is that on my side the hostname set to optimal is youtube.com, not www.youtube.com. If I toggle the filtering mode to basic then back to optimal, the hostname set to otpimal becomes www.youtube.com, at which point I can reproduce the issue after re-launching Safari.

So the issue is uBOL should not lower filtering mode when the hostname is a descendant of a granted host permission in Safari.

So the repro steps require that after granting permission, the filtering mode must be lowered to basic then back to optimal.
