TableView on Desktop/Android #434

Thanks for trying TableView and for the detailed feedback! TableView is intended to work with Uno Platform across the supported targets, including Android. However, I haven't personally tested the Android experience extensively, so I can't say that all of the desktop behavior currently translates seamlessly to Android. What you're describing with scrolling — particularly the headers not staying synchronized with the columns — doesn't sound like something you should have to work around in your application. If you can share a small reproducible project, or even the relevant XAML/code showing how the TableView is set up, I'd be happy to take a look. If we can confirm that this is a TableView issue specific to Android, we can track it as a bug and work on improving the Android experience. So I wouldn't spend too much time assuming that you're doing something wrong, especially if the same setup is already behaving correctly on desktop. 🙂 |

Being new at it, my initial thought is I'm missing something, but thank you for the head's up there might be an issue. I'll try my best to get you the information you might need. I created a new project and added in WinUI.TableView: I copied over "Item.cs" from another project, which is a nutrition item class. I tweaked the MainPage files to create a TableView and a static list of almost thirty Items. In Linux, the scrollbars enlarge and are selectable by mouse. Scrolls up/down and left/right, including headers. In Android (S24+), touching the very left side (empty cells) may initially allow an up/down scroll, but once a row is selected, all bets are off. Touching the grid shows thin scrollbars, but they can't seem to be accessed or used. I hope this information is helpful. I'll leave this new project alone should I need to grab something else from it for this discussion. |
Uh oh!

I'm new to Linux and Uno Platform. I like the idea of write code once and run it multiple places, but it is quite the learning curve coming from Windows / Visual Studio / Forms.
Has anyone successfully used TableView in a VSCode project that works on desktop (Linux) and Android? TableView seems to behave how I'd expect on the desktop. If the list is longer or wider than the screen, the scrollbars appear and the headers scroll, but on Android, it does not. Scrolling hardly works. If it does, the headers don't move with the columns.
What I'm hoping to find out is, should it work seemlessly? If so I have way more digging to do in figuring out what I don't know/understand yet. If it does NOT work seemlessly, I know I'm spinning my wheels even trying at the moment.
Any feedback is welcome in my newbie journey. Thank you!!
