Description

Would be great to use the properly typed API instead of using JSON as String with Java 🤓 Having a direct dependnecy to the related library would also make sure I have a compatible version on my classpath.

Hi Matti, thank you for the issue.

I'm not sure if this is the best idea because

1. there is little to no difference in between calling showChart(chart.toJson()) and showChart(chart) from an users perspective
2. This would bind the ChartJS-wrapper to our ChartJS model
   • This is not required at all because they are designed in a modular/interoperable way. Therefore there is not really a "compatible" version of our ChartJS model
   • If this would be implemented: Users may not need the ChartJS model dependency, because they use their own one or just generate it directly using a String. If the library is bundled by default and it's also referenced in classes, it would be no longer possible for them to exclude it because this would result in linking errors.

The whole situation reminds me of Testscontainers and there use of JUnit4: testcontainers/testcontainers-java#970
