There are some easy fixes that can be made to significantly improve the ux of the text input fields:

• start input/edit at last entered char

@n1LS I don't have any proposal for that at this time, so I split that out of this issue into its own one: #1403 so that can unblock your existing PR #1304 by removing from it any char class handling code.
