Does semantic highlight only work when loading a file?

I really like the possibility of semantic highlighting that this plugin enables. But so far it only ever works for me after loading a file freshly, not while typing. While doing that only the default vim highlighting applies.

Is this the expected behaviour?

So, it seems like updating the semantic highlighting tokens is registered to the autocommand TextChanged. This event only triggers, when the text is changed in NOMRAL mode, which generally is not the majority of the edits.

Maybe there are autocommands better fitted for this?

But that would also explain why using >> in NORMAL mode triggers the highlighting, while adding something in INSERT mode does not.
