nRF7002 Wi-Fi Driver: Incorrect wdev_id in UMAC Event Responses for Second Virtual Interface (VIF)

Description:
I am using the nRF7002 Wi-Fi companion with Zephyr and enabling its capability to support two Virtual Interfaces (VIFs). After making the necessary modifications, I observed that most UMAC event responses return wdev_id = 0, even when the command was sent with wdev_id = 1 for the second VIF.

Steps Taken:

1. Driver Modification:

• Defined a second Ethernet interface using ETH_NET_DEVICE_DT_INST_DEFINE.
• Utilized the second element of nrf_wifi_ctx_zep.nrf_wifi_vif_ctx_zep array for the second VIF.

2. WPA Supplicant:

• Created separate control channels for each virtual interface to handle WPA events.

3. UMAC Layer:

• Verified that commands are sent with the correct wdev_id (0 for the first VIF and 1 for the second VIF).
• Logged the raw event data from the device, confirming that the data itself contains wdev_id = 0 incorrectly.

Issue Details:

• Incorrect Behavior: Most synchronous UMAC events return wdev_id = 0 even if the command was sent with wdev_id = 1.
• Exception: Some commands, such as nrf_wifi_sys_fmac_chg_vif_state => NRF_WIFI_UMAC_CMD_SET_IFFLAGS, return the correct wdev_id.
• UMAC Event Processing: The driver code already handles multiple VIFs by forwarding the received wdev_id, so the issue appears to originate from the device’s response.

Request for Assistance:

• Is there any additional configuration required to enable proper wdev_id reporting for the second VIF?
• Are there known limitations with multiple VIFs in the nRF7002 UMAC layer?
• Any insights on why certain commands return the correct wdev_id while others do not?
