While working on this list, I realized a major issue deep-rooted in the Indian psyche. The top GitHub users from India have repositories filled with tutorials and demo applications which accompany their blogs, but they don't have a single app published on F-Droid/Play Store and other platforms. Thousands, if not lakhs of people follow them and some may even idolize them, but the lack of direct contribution to the open-source community from the most followed users creates a void in the Indian Tech Community - a lack of sense of building.
When we see the leaders teach but not build, a whole generation of students (future developers) lacks the will to build. While it's important to teach, it's equally, if not more important to create. The leaders needed to foster a community of contribution, that would have led the Indian Tech Community to build apps for India.
Therefore, we want to list the "unsung heroes" of the community - those who put in the effort and built something - for the community - whether big or small. Those who showed the will to build their own communities, encouraging discussion and contribution.
This repository is a homage to the ones we don't know about, the ones we rarely discover. Their apps, their communities - their effort to build the new India. Discover the authors and their creations - be motivated, connect with them, their communities - and contribute.
