Fixes #5.
I also tried to fix #9, but I don't think its properly possible without a proc macro.

@AltSysrq: thanks for all your work on this crate, it's really excellent. If it could be extended to support async functions, it would be even more excellent. Could this pull request and #11 be merged into a new release?
