Documentation

Detailed documentation for each function category can be found in the docs/ folder:

• Git Utilities - Repository initialization, commits, and resets.
• Windows Utilities - System cleanup, icon cache resets, and hardware summaries.
• File Utilities - Exclude-based recursive copying and other file management tasks.
• Programs Utilities - Launching Vim from a Git-for-Windows path and other program shortcuts.
• Aliases - Override default native behaviors (curl) and shorten standard workflows (git).

Interactive Manual

The repository also includes scripts/manual.ps1, a terminal-friendly manual system inspired by Unix man pages. It automatically discovers the repository's custom aliases and functions, resolves alias-to-function relationships, and renders documentation for either the full index or a specific command.

Load it in your session with:

. ./scripts/manual.ps1

Then use:

help
help Invoke-GitCheckoutRemote
man gco

The manual is generated dynamically from the repository files, so newly added aliases or functions appear automatically.

Aliases

In addition to the main scripts, this repository includes an alias/ folder with standalone alias definitions. These are intended for quick keyboard shortcuts to the functions or common Git commands.

Example: gco for Invoke-GitCheckoutRemote.

To use them, dot-source them in your profile or session:

. ./alias/git.ps1
. ./alias/curl.ps1

Installation

Quick Use (One-Time)

1. Clone this repository
2. Source the script you need:

   . ./scripts/git.ps1

3. Run the functions directly in your PowerShell session

Permanent Setup (Recommended)

To make these functions available in every PowerShell session from any directory:

1. Open your PowerShell profile:

   notepad $PROFILE

   If the file doesn't exist, create it first:

   if (!(Test-Path $PROFILE)) { New-Item -Path $PROFILE -ItemType File -Force }

2. Add this line to the profile file:

   . "C:\Users\Manuel Morales\Repos\PowerShell\scripts\git.ps1"
   . "C:\Users\Manuel Morales\Repos\PowerShell\scripts\windows.ps1"

3. Save and restart PowerShell

Now all functions from both git.ps1 and windows.ps1 will work from any folder without sourcing.

Future Plans

This repository will grow to include:

• Docker utilities — Quick stack deployments, container management helpers
• Dev environment setup — Automated tool installations and configurations
• Cloud CLI wrappers — Simplified commands for AWS, Azure, GCP
• Build & deploy scripts — CI/CD automation helpers
• Any other repetitive tasks — Converting multi-step CLI operations into single commands

Requirements

• PowerShell 5.1 or later
• Git (for git.ps1 functions)
