[Agent Assist validation] Fork task creates and promotes a single-commit PR #33963
This is a disposable production validation issue for the Agent Assist fork-task creation/promotion workflow. The requested change is intentionally trivial and infra-only (not a product bug fix):
Create exactly one new file named .agent-assist-fork-flow-validation.txt at the repository root.
Its contents must be exactly these two lines:
Agent Assist deployed fork workflow validation.
Safe to delete after validation.
Do not modify any other file.
Use this EXACT PR title:[Core] Fix #33963: az: add fork workflow validation file
PR title & description format (required)
This repo enforces a PR format (guide). Please author the PR exactly as follows or CI's Check the Format of Pull Request Title and Content will fail.
Use this EXACT PR title (copy verbatim, do not reword):
Keep the backticks around the command and the Fix #33963: prefix. You may only adjust the wording after the command (the final summary) if the fix changes; the [Core] prefix, issue link, and backticked command must stay.
Link the issue — start the Description with a closing keyword so the PR auto-links and closes it: Fixes #33963.
Related command — the az ... command this affects.
Description(mandatory) — why the bug happens, what you changed, and the resulting behavior.
Testing Guide — example command(s) showing the fix works.
History Notes — leave the title to drive the history note, or add extra lines in the same format (component in brackets + the command in backticks), e.g. [Core] `az <command>`: <note>.
Keep the template checklist and tick the items you've satisfied.
Fork promotion for this issue could not complete: the promotion helper attempted to squash-merge the completed fork PR (a0x1ab/azure-cli) into its temporary base branch, but that base branch (agent-assist/azure-azure-cli-issue-33963-ae51706ce7aa) no longer exists on the fork even though the fork PR shows as merged/closed. This looks like a partially-completed prior promotion attempt (squash merge succeeded and the temp branch was cleaned up, but the upstream draft PR was never opened). A maintainer needs to inspect a0x1ab/azure-cli PR #3 and either recreate the temp base branch from its merge commit or restart the fork task for this issue.
Fork promotion is blocked: the fork PR's temporary base branch (agent-assist/azure-azure-cli-issue-33963-ae51706ce7aa in a0x1ab/azure-cli) no longer exists (it was deleted after the fork PR was merged), so the squash/promotion step cannot read the merged commit. A maintainer must repair the Agent Assist dispatch record (e.g. recreate the temp base branch at the pre-merge SHA, or restart the fork task) before this can be promoted to an upstream draft PR.
Fork promotion is blocked: the fork PR (a0x1ab/azure-cli#3) is already merged, but its temporary base branch agent-assist/azure-azure-cli-issue-33963-ae51706ce7aa and head branch copilot/fix-azure-cli-33963 no longer exist in the fork (likely deleted by an auto-delete-branch-on-merge setting on a0x1ab/azure-cli). Promotion needs a live branch ref to squash and open the upstream draft, and cannot proceed from a merge commit SHA alone under the current pipeline. The merge commit is still reachable at 170a6c8470b24df1d2c6f1da8fc5b91f5e06e7fc. A maintainer should either disable auto-delete-branch-on-merge on the fork repo, or recreate the two branches pointing at that commit, so the Agent Assist dispatch record can be repaired and promotion retried.
