chrome-cdp-skill lets your AI agent connect directly to your open Chrome browser tabs. This means your AI can view and interact with the real, live browser session you already have running. There is no need to open new windows or set up complicated software. It works out of the box.
This tool is designed to be easy for anyone to use. It does not require programming knowledge or special setups. After installation, your AI will have instant access to your live Chrome session.

Find the latest release
On the release page, look for the most recent version. It will be listed at the top. -
Download the setup file
Under the latest release, locate the Windows installer. The file will usually have a name likechrome-cdp-skill-setup.exe. Click it to download. -
Run the installer
After the download finishes, double-click the setup file to start the installer. -
Follow installation prompts
The installer will open a simple window. Click “Next” or “Install” when asked. You do not need to change any settings. -
Finish the installation
Once the installation ends, click “Finish” to close the installer. -
Start the application
Look for the chrome-cdp-skill icon on your desktop or in the Start menu. Double-click to open.
After installing, chrome-cdp-skill will try to detect your open Chrome browser tabs.
- Make sure your Chrome browser is running.
- Your browser should have at least one open tab.
Once running, chrome-cdp-skill connects to your live Chrome tabs automatically. There is no further setup needed.
chrome-cdp-skill uses Chrome’s built-in developer tools protocol. This system allows apps to control and inspect browser tabs.
- It connects to the tabs you already use.
- It does not open new Chrome windows unless needed.
- It lets AI tools read content from tabs or interact by clicking and typing.
Because it connects to your existing browser, chrome-cdp-skill feels quick and seamless.
- Keep Chrome updated to the latest version for best compatibility.
- Avoid closing tabs that your AI needs to access.
- If connection fails, restart chrome-cdp-skill and Chrome.
- Use only trusted AI agents and tools alongside chrome-cdp-skill.
- Run chrome-cdp-skill with regular user permissions—no admin rights are required.
When installed, chrome-cdp-skill will create a folder with these components:
- Executable file: The main program that connects to Chrome.
- Configuration file: Stores your preferences (usually no changes needed).
- Log files: Records connection activity to help troubleshoot issues.
- Help document: A PDF with quick tips and contact info for support.
chrome-cdp-skill does not detect Chrome tabs.
- Make sure Chrome is open with tabs available.
- Restart chrome-cdp-skill and Chrome.
- Check if your antivirus or firewall blocks the app.
Installation fails or is blocked.
- Verify you have enough disk space.
- Run the installer as a normal user, not administrator.
- Download the installer again in case the file is corrupted.
The AI agent cannot interact with tabs.
- Confirm chrome-cdp-skill is running and connected.
- Make sure AI tools use the correct connection settings.
- Check your internet connection.
chrome-cdp-skill only accesses the browser tabs on your local machine. It does not send or store your browsing data externally by default.
The connection is local and secure. You remain in control of which AI agents are allowed access.
If you want more control, chrome-cdp-skill allows some adjustments through its settings file:
- Set specific tabs or domains for AI interaction.
- Enable or disable logging.
- Change connection timeout periods.
Editing the settings file requires a basic text editor and is not necessary for most users.
