Add System Tasks, Activity pages and leftover-archive detection (1.5.1) - #1195
Conversation
Replace the bare setInterval calls in cron.ts with a task registry that tracks last run, duration, result and next run per job (persisted in system_config), prevents a job from overlapping itself, and exposes GET /api/system/tasks and POST /api/system/tasks/:name/run. Add the System Tasks page under Activity with a Run now button. Idea credited to Jessomadic's fork. 📊 Automated PR Analysis
SummaryAdds a System Tasks page under Activity that surfaces background job status (interval, last run, duration, result, next run) with manual 'run now' triggers, backed by a new task-registry replacing bare setInterval jobs with self-overlap protection and persisted state. Also includes new API endpoints and Socket.IO events for task start/finish notifications, as groundwork for upcoming Activity pages and leftover-archive detection work. Review Checklist

166-166: 🎯 Functional Correctness | 🔵 Trivial | 💤 Low valueTrack pending runs per task.
Both layouts disable every button while the shared mutation is pending. The task registry only prevents overlapping runs of the same task, so unrelated tasks should remain runnable.
Do not use
runTask.variablesfor this check. Consecutivemutatecalls can run in parallel, butvariablesrepresents only the latest call. After starting tasks A and B, task A can become enabled while its first request is still pending. A second click can then receive the server's 409 response.Track all pending mutation variables instead:

Record grabbed, completed, imported, failed, needs-review, removed and blocklisted events in a new download_events table (SQLite and Postgres, with migrations and parity guards), expose GET /api/activity/history, and add History and Blocklist pages under Activity. The existing global release blocklist gets a dedicated page with filter and unblock. Events older than 90 days are removed by the cleanup task. Idea credited to Jessomadic's fork. Add ArchiveService.findArchiveSets, a bounded read-only scan for archive sets (multi-volume aware, symlinks not followed), and use it after a successful import to notify the user when the library folder still holds archives nothing unpacked (auto-unpack off, sub-folders, a second archive set). Stop NZBGet history with UnpackStatus NONE from reporting a completed unpack. Idea credited to Jessomadic's fork. Search the History server-side by release or game, filter System Tasks client-side, and let the Blocklist page clear every blocked release at once (DELETE /api/activity/blocklist, behind a confirmation). Also address review findings: bound the archive scan inside a single large folder, warn about leftover archives after a confirmed import, and let failing cron jobs reject so the task registry records the failure. ⚠️ Unverified finding
Verification ran but could not confirm this finding. It is shown for review, not as a verified issue.Move the volume-grouping loop into a helper to clear the SonarCloud failure.
SonarCloud reports a failure on
walk(Line 813): its cognitive complexity is 27 and the limit is 15. The grouping loop at Lines 829–849 has no dependency on traversal state. Move it into a private method, for examplegroupArchiveSets(files, archiveOptions), that returns{ primary, volumes }[].walkthen pushes each result withrelDir. If the SonarCloud quality gate is required, this change unblocks the check. It also lets the grouping logic be tested without temporary directories.♻️ Proposed extraction

386-388: 🔒 Security & Privacy | 🔵 Trivial | ⚡ Quick winShow that "Unblock all" keeps other users' blocklist entries.
removeAllReleaseBlacklistsrestricts the delete to games owned byuserId. The bulk delete endpoint relies on this restriction to keep users separate. The current test has no fixtures for a second user. If the subquery filter were dropped or pointed at the wrong column, getAllReleaseBlacklists(user.id)would still return[], and the test would still pass. The checktoBeGreaterThanOrEqual(1)also accepts any delete count.Add these steps to the test:
- Create a second user and a game owned by that user.
- Blocklist a release for that game.
- Call
removeAllReleaseBlacklists(user.id).- Assert that the second user's entry is still there.
The SQLite and PGlite parity runs then check the user scoping on both dialects.
Based on learnings: a test for a filtered delete should include a record that matches a similar but different condition, and assert that the record is kept.

Renumber the download_events migrations after main's 0045/0009 and register the RomM sync as a system task. Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01JSBJSsw6K5VFAEX4C83x8N
Code Review ✅ Approved 2 closed / 2 findings🔴 High risk · Adding download-event migrations to both database dialects changes persistent schema and could disrupt upgrades if migration application fails or dialect behavior diverges. Adds System Tasks, History and Blocklist pages under Activity, download event logging, and detection of unextracted archives after import. Two issues were resolved this session: same-status updates no longer drop new errorMessage or completedAt values, and the status-change check is no longer read-then-write, so concurrent calls no longer double-log. No open issues remain. ✅ 2 closed✅ Bug: Same-status updates now skipped, dropping new errorMessage/completedAt
✅ Bug: Status-change check is read-then-write again, so concurrent calls double-log

Before: background jobs were bare
setIntervals with no visibility. The Activity menu only had Logs and Import History, there was no global view of what happened to downloads, and archives a download client left unextracted went unnoticed. After: System Tasks, History and Blocklist pages under Activity (with search and an "Unblock all" button), and a notification when an imported game still holds unextracted archives.
Everything for the three 1.5.1 items of Questarr-mgmt (#20, #19, #18) is on this one branch.
1. System Tasks (#20)
server/task-registry.ts: onesetTimeoutper job, next run = end of the last run + interval, no self-overlap, last run persisted insystem_config(task_state:<name>, so no table). A cron job that fails at the top level now rejects, so the page shows it as failed.cron.tsregisters the 8 jobs (game updates, download status, auto search, xREL, Steam wishlist, client versions, RSS, history cleanup) with unchanged intervals and startup delay.GET /api/system/tasks,POST /api/system/tasks/:name/run(202, 409 if already running, 404 unknown);task:started/task:finishedover Socket.IO./system/taskswith a search field: table on tablet/desktop, cards with 44px buttons on phones.2. Activity: History and Blocklist (#19)
download_eventstable on both dialects (migrations/0045,migrations-pg/0009, parity guards,TABLE_ORDER). Written fromDatabaseStorageso every call site is covered: grabbed, completed, imported, failed, needs review, removed, blocklisted. A status that does not change logs nothing. Failure to log never breaks the download. Events older than 90 days go in the cleanup task.GET /api/activity/history(filter by event, search by release or game, paged)./activity/historyand/activity/blocklistpages. The blocklist page reuses/api/blacklist, adds a filter, an Unblock button per row and an "Unblock all" button behind a confirmation (DELETE /api/activity/blocklist). The name patterns of Add global release name blacklist #1112 stay in Settings and are linked.Search and unblock all:

3. Archives left unextracted (#18)
Scope follows
reports/mgmt-backlog/research/18-sab-leftover-archives.md: detect and report, no second extraction engine.ArchiveService.findArchiveSets: read-only, bounded (depth 3, 5000 entries, also inside one huge folder),lstatonly so symlinks are never followed, one result per multi-volume set.UnpackStatus: NONEno longer reports a completed unpack.unpackStatusis left as is.Ideas credited to Jessomadic's fork (
bd4002f6,5395c91e,8bfa2910); all rewritten.Checks
tsc, ESLint, the full Vitest run (3764 tests, SQLite and PGlite parity),db:generate:pgproduces nothing further.🤖 Generated with Claude Code
