Requested by Vincent · follow-up to #1198 (Doezer/Questarr-mgmt#22). Stacked on #1221, which is stacked on #1198: merge those first, then retarget this one to main.

Description

Before: the SeerrNG provider answered the v2 core routes only. catalog/games/{igdbId}/editions and catalog/discover did not exist, and a request carrying selection was refused with a 400.

After: the three v2.1 items of the QuestarrNG contract are implemented and advertised in the handshake (editions, discover).

  • Editions: GET catalog/games/{igdbId}/editions lists the editions IGDB links with version_parent, the content linked to each edition, and the standalone add-ons of the base game, with owned from the library. Content IGDB does not describe stays unknown (storyContent: null, contentKnown: false). Updates (IGDB type 14) are never listed.
  • Discovery: GET catalog/discover filters on IGDB theme, mode, perspective, genre and language ids (include = any, exclude = none of), q, minYear, maxHoursToBeat and an offset cursor, with the content filters of the account applied.
  • Selection on POST requests: edition makes Questarr acquire that edition as the game; missing-selected requests the base game and adds each selected add-on to the library as a wanted game. The ledger keeps the selection (integration_requests.selection, SQLite 0051, Postgres 0015) and the request state gets the content block (mode, pending, acquiredCount). Unknown edition or add-on ids, or a selection without igdbId, are a 400; replaying an id with another selection is a 409. Cancelling also shelves the add-ons that are still wanted.

Decisions taken (easy to change): add-ons are plain library games, so retry and asset delivery follow the base game only; discovery treats every id list as "any of"; wantedContent is not advertised. Details are in docs/SEERRNG.md.

Not run against the live IGDB API or a real SeerrNG build: the queries follow IGDB's documented syntax and are covered by Questarr's own tests (50 in seerrng_provider).

Summary by Gitar

  • Database:
    • Added integration_requests_live_game_idx unique index with duplicate-claim release in SQLite 0050 and Postgres 0014
  • Concurrency:
    • Claimed the game in the ledger before touching its status, answering 409 on a concurrent claim
    • Prefers a live holder over a cancelled one when looking up a game's request
  • Security:
    • Pinned follow-redirects to 1.16.1 to patch credential header leaks
  • Requests:
    • Add-on failures stay failed and retryable behind an owned base game
    • Add-ons shelved by a cancelled request are wanted again when a new request selects them
  • Content filters:
    • Editions and add-ons hidden by the account's adult-content filters are neither listed nor selectable

This will update automatically on new commits.

📝 Walkthrough

SeerrNG adds edition and discovery catalogs and supports requests for selected editions or add-ons. Request selections are stored and included in request lifecycle handling. Tests and documentation cover the catalog and request behavior.

Changes: SeerrNG provider capabilities

Layer / File(s) Summary
Request selection persistence
shared/schema.ts, shared/schema.pg.ts, server/storage.ts, migrations/0051_lean_dagger.sql, migrations-pg/0015_square_loa.sql, migrations/meta/*, migrations-pg/meta/_journal.json, server/__tests__/dialect-parity.test.ts
Request records now store an optional selection. Storage implementations can list requests by user and provider. SQLite and PostgreSQL migrations add the selection column; the PostgreSQL schema adds a partial unique index that excludes cancelled requests.
IGDB edition and discovery data
server/igdb.ts
IGDB adds content-reference and discovery types, content classification, linked edition and add-on retrieval, and filtered, paginated game discovery.
SeerrNG catalog endpoints
server/routes/seerrng.ts, server/__tests__/fixtures/common-route-mocks.ts, server/__tests__/seerrng_provider.test.ts, docs/SEERRNG.md
SeerrNG advertises and serves edition and discovery catalogs. Routes validate discovery filters and apply visibility and playtime constraints. Mocks, tests, and documentation cover catalog behavior.
Selected-content request lifecycle
server/routes/seerrng.ts, server/__tests__/fixtures/common-route-mocks.ts, server/__tests__/seerrng_provider.test.ts, docs/SEERRNG.md
Requests validate and persist edition or add-on selections, queue selected content, and report content progress. Retry and cancellation handle selected content; tests cover validation, failures, and replay conflicts.

sca-scan failed on the previous head for the same reason as #1221: two new high advisories on follow-redirects@1.16.0 (via axios), not this diff. The override to ^1.16.1 from #1227 is merged into this branch (4a0850f), so the next run should be green.

Count an add-on not_found result as a queue failure.

If quickAddGameByTitle returns not_found, this branch neither queues the add-on nor increments failed. The request can then leave the selected add-on pending without reporting a retryable failure. Count not_found alongside thrown queue errors so flagIncompleteAddons preserves the retry path.

Corrigé dans 3acf462 : un add-on dont quickAddGameByTitle renvoie not_found compte maintenant comme un échec de mise en file, donc la demande passe en failed avec retry disponible. Test ajouté (60 tests passent).

🟠 Major · Cancel can now shelve an acquired base game. · seerrng.ts:866-870

server/routes/seerrng.ts:866-870
🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟠 Major | ⚡ Quick win

Cancel can now shelve an acquired base game.

When hasAddonFailure(ledger) is true, describeRequest returns failed even if the base game is acquired. Before this change, an acquired game returned available. The cancel handler rejects available with 409, so acquired games never reached the shelving code.

An acquired game now reaches that code in the common missing-selected case. The user owns the base game, the add-on queue fails, and the request reports failed with actions.cancel: true. The cancel handler then runs storage.updateGameStatus(game.id, { status: "shelved" }) and updateGameSearchResultsAvailable(game.id, false) on the owned game. The user's library entry loses its acquired status.

The interrupted-cancel path at Line 1484 already guards with !isAcquired(interrupted). The main cancel path has no such guard.

Fix the cancel handler (outside the changed range, near Lines 1540-1551). Shelve the game only if it is not acquired:

const shelveGame = game !== undefined && !isAcquired(game);
const updated = await storage.updateIntegrationRequest(userId, ledger.externalRequestId, {
  status: "cancelled",
  errorMessage: shelveGame ? CANCEL_PENDING_MARKER : null,
});
if (game && shelveGame) {
  await storage.updateGameStatus(game.id, { status: "shelved" });
  await storage.updateGameSearchResultsAvailable(game.id, false);
  await storage.updateIntegrationRequest(userId, ledger.externalRequestId, {
    errorMessage: null,
  });
}

Add a test that cancels a missing-selected request with an owned base game and a failed add-on queue. Assert that the base game status does not change.

Corrigé dans b87e0ce (retour CodeRabbit hors diff) : annuler une demande en échec sur ses add-ons ne range plus un jeu de base déjà possédé. Test ajouté, qui échoue sans le correctif.

🔴 High risk · The SQLite/Postgres selection migration and add-on request lifecycle changes alter persisted request and library state, so errors could leave selections or wanted statuses inconsistent.

Adds editions, discovery, and content selection to the SeerrNG provider for contract v2.1, including add-on retry and cancellation handling. Resolved this session: cancel no longer shelves add-ons the request never queued, failed un-shelves are no longer lost, add-on failures no longer appear as 'available' behind an owned base game, retries keep add-ons on IGDB errors, and cancel leaves add-ons selected by other live requests untouched. No open issues found.

✅ Bug: Cancel shelves wanted add-ons this request never queued

📄 server/routes/seerrng.ts:1237-1248 📄 server/routes/seerrng.ts:939-953 📄 server/routes/seerrng.ts:1317
queueAddons skips any add-on the library already has (if (library.has(addon.id)) continue;). That matches the docs: "add-ons already in the library are left alone". On cancel, though, shelvePendingAddons shelves every selected add-on whose status is wanted, and it does not check who created that game.

So if the user had already marked add-on X as wanted, or another SeerrNG request queued it, cancelling this request shelves X and clears its search-results flag. Auto-search then stops on a game this request never added.

Fix: when the request is created, store the ids that queueAddons actually added (for example in the ledger selection JSON, or as a return value saved on the ledger). On cancel, shelve only those ids, and skip any that another live request's selection still lists.

✅ Edge Case: Failed un-shelve is not retried, since the cancelled holder is already gone

📄 server/routes/seerrng.ts:924-925 📄 server/routes/seerrng.ts:934-948
The new catch block releases this request's claim so a retry runs the post-claim steps again. But the cancelled holder's gameId was already cleared at line 924, before the try block. Suppose updateGameStatus(owner.id, { status: "wanted" }) at line 938 throws. On retry, getIntegrationRequestByGameId returns no holder, so releasedCancelled stays false and the game is never moved out of shelved. The request then reports searching on a game that auto-search skips. One fix is to derive the un-shelve condition from the game itself, for example a game shelved by a SeerrNG cancellation. Another is to restore the cancelled holder's gameId in the catch block so the retry sees it again.

✅ Bug: Add-on failure is masked as 'available' when the base game is owned

📄 server/routes/seerrng.ts:837-848 📄 server/routes/seerrng.ts:1109-1122 📄 server/routes/seerrng.ts:1256-1258 📄 server/routes/seerrng.ts:1012-1019
flagIncompleteAddons marks the ledger failed, but describeRequest checks deliverable || isAcquired(game) before it reads ledger.status === "failed" (seerrng.ts:837-847). That ordering hides the failure in the most common missing-selected case: the user already owns the base game, the request takes the duplicate path (1109-1122), and an add-on fails to queue. The response reports available with actions.retry: false, and the retry handler refuses the request with 409 "The game is already available." (1256-1258), so the missing add-on can never be queued again. The same masking applies while the base game is downloading or importing. Fix: let a pending add-on failure take priority (for example, test ledger.status === "failed" && selection?.mode === "missing-selected" before the available branch), and let retry go ahead for that case even when the base game is acquired.

✅ Edge Case: Retry clears the add-on failure before re-queuing, losing add-ons on IGDB errors

📄 server/routes/seerrng.ts:1308-1322
On retry, the ledger is written to status: "searching", errorMessage: null (1308-1313) before igdbClient.getGameEditions is called. If IGDB is unconfigured or down and returns base: null, addons is [] and failed is 0, so the request comes back healthy and the unqueued add-ons are silently dropped. If getGameEditions throws instead, requestAction answers 500 but the ledger stays searching, so actions.retry is false from then on. Fix: re-queue the add-ons before clearing the failed state, and count an add-on that is selected but not resolved (base missing, or id absent from linkedContent) as failed so the request stays retryable.

✅ Edge Case: Cancel still shelves an add-on another live request selected as add-on

📄 server/routes/seerrng.ts:1392-1403 📄 server/routes/seerrng.ts:1001-1002
The new holder check in shelvePendingAddons uses getIntegrationRequestByGameId, so it only sees requests that hold the add-on as their base game (ledger.gameId). A second request can also want the same add-on through its own missing-selected selection. Here is how it happens: request A queues add-on 70. Request B (another base game, or the same one) selects add-on 70, and queueAddons skips it because library.has(70). Nothing in the ledger links B to that game. When A is cancelled, the add-on is shelved even though B still wants it. B can't fix this afterwards. Its status doesn't turn failed, so retry isn't offered. Even if B is retried, queueAddons skips the game again because it is already in the library, so nothing un-shelves it. The add-on stays in B's content.pending and is never searched. Fix: before shelving, also skip the add-on if any other non-cancelled request of the user lists that IGDB id in its stored selection.addonIds. Another option is to record add-ons that were already in the library and wanted on B's side too, and check that list.
