Explanation of Change

Add an onClick handler to the SortableItem wrapper div that forwards screen reader synthetic clicks to the inner pressable. JAWS (in Virtual PC Cursor mode) activates focused elements via the accessibility API, producing a click on the wrapper div instead of dispatching a keydown event. The existing onKeyDownCapture handler never fires in this case. The new handler checks that the click target is the wrapper itself (not a child) to avoid interfering with normal mouse clicks.

Tests

  1. Open the app in Chrome on Windows with JAWS enabled
  2. Click on the FAB button
  3. Click on "Track Distance"
  4. Use Tab to navigate to the "Start" field
  5. Press Enter
  6. Verify the Start field is activated
  7. Repeat with mouse click and verify it still works normally
  8. Verify drag and drop of waypoints still works
  • Verify that no errors appear in the JS console

Offline tests

N/A - This is a screen reader accessibility fix that does not involve network requests.

QA Steps

  1. Open the app in Chrome on Windows with JAWS screen reader enabled
  2. Click on the FAB button
  3. Click on "Track Distance"
  4. Use Tab to navigate to the "Start" field
  5. Press Enter
  6. Verify the Start field is activated (address search opens)
  7. Press Escape, then Tab to the "Stop" field and press Enter
  8. Verify the Stop field is also activated
  9. Verify normal mouse clicks on Start/Stop fields still work
  10. Verify drag and drop reordering of waypoints still functions
  • Verify that no errors appear in the JS console

    • I verified proper file naming conventions were followed for any new files or renamed files. All non-platform specific files are named after what they export and are not named "index.js". All platform-specific files are named for the platform the code supports as outlined in the README.
    • I verified the JSDocs style guidelines (in STYLE.md) were followed
  • If a new code pattern is added I verified it was agreed to be used by multiple Expensify engineers
  • I followed the guidelines as stated in the Review Guidelines
  • I tested other components that can be impacted by my changes (i.e. if the PR modifies a shared library or component like Avatar, I verified the components using Avatar are working as expected)
