FossPass RPM for Fedora and Qubes OS

This repository publishes the x86_64 RPM build of FossPass, a Linux/Qubes-first encrypted password vault.

Current release

  • Version: 0.1.0-1
  • Architecture: x86_64
  • Package name: foss-pass
  • Fedora/Qubes package: FossPass-0.1.0-1.x86_64.rpm
  • Signing status: unsigned preview build

The RPM has valid internal SHA-256 header and payload digests. It is not OpenPGP-signed yet, so verify SHA256SUMS before installation. This release should be treated as a preview until RPM signing and broader target-template testing are complete.

Download and verify

Download both the RPM and SHA256SUMS from the GitHub Releases page, then run:

sha256sum -c SHA256SUMS
rpm -Kv FossPass-0.1.0-1.x86_64.rpm

Expected SHA-256:

e2dcc81129ddceddd60a46f3b80aecfd91543adafe4df75b804dbfb1a0468f60 FossPass-0.1.0-1.x86_64.rpm

Install on Fedora

sudo dnf install ./FossPass-0.1.0-1.x86_64.rpm
fosspass

Remove it with:

sudo dnf remove foss-pass

Runtime dependencies are resolved by DNF and include GTK 3 and WebKitGTK 4.1.

Qubes OS installation

For one standalone Fedora qube, copy the RPM into that qube and install it using DNF.

For several AppVMs, install it in the Fedora template:

  1. Shut down AppVMs based on that template.
  2. Start the Fedora template and copy the RPM into it.
  3. Run sudo dnf install ./FossPass-0.1.0-1.x86_64.rpm.
  4. Shut down the template completely.
  5. Restart the AppVM and add FossPass to its Applications list if needed.

The application can be installed in a template while vault data remains isolated per AppVM.

Build verification for this artifact

Before publication, the local build passed:

  • 2 frontend tests
  • 18 Rust tests
  • Tauri optimized release build
  • RPM installation and rpm -V
  • Runtime launch from /usr/bin/fosspass
  • Shared-library resolution check

Security note

Build and download the package in a networked development qube. Transfer the verified RPM into the target vault qube or template. Do not add a compiler toolchain or network access to the offline vault qube merely to build FossPass.
